The Taoro Park is emblematic of Puerto de la Cruz, not only for it´s size and position but also considered a green lung of the North. Iy also has a history wich in the Past was divided into Taoro, La Sortija and Atalay Historically it was the main area where the British Colony of the empire used and gather to enjoy their leisures in the S.XIX. centuries. In this same area can be found the British Library Church or the British Yeoward School and the old Taoro Hotel, now closed. It become a Casino and then a Hall for lectures and symposiums. Within the garden of the Church of England also built at the end of IXth Century, both of what is called the Parque de la Sortija is a green and agreeable area with marvellons views of Teide, where in the 19th or early 20th Century, the Sortija wich means the ring, the British Gentlemen used gather to gallop down the avenue and catch a ring on colored ribbons. Doubtless today is a tranquil park overlooking Puerto de la Cruz and wonderful place to live or walk in.
