CANALES DE BAJÍA ROUTE

Canales de Bajía´s pathways are one the famous routes located in the very east side of Tenerife. We start the walk from Cruz del Carmen, and ancient crossway between Santa Cruz and La Laguna, where we will find a wonderfult viewpoint to Aguere Valley and Teide, a Chapel, a Restaurant and the Visitor Centre of Natural Park of Anaga.

CANALES DE BAJÍA ROUTE

From Cruz del Carmen we take the route signed as PR – TF – 11 that will take us to Batan (5km) and Punta Hidalgo(12Km). This track is also used to go to Bajamar following PR – TF – 12 route. Both paths are separate when we find a green tunnel of trees. When we arrive to Batán de Abajo what we see first is a square where there´s a Chapel with Candelaria´s Virgin and San Lorenzo sculpture inside. After Batán we can go down to Los Canales de Bajía, a water channel circuit built at the beginning of XX Century. This track is not recommended to those who suffer vertigo disease and GPS can be useless in some part of the way. Is better going with a professional guide to avoid unnecessary risk indeed.
